Widow of George Floyd, Who Hadn’t Seen Him in 6 Years, Collects Over $14 Million

The death of George Floyd shocked the nation. Now his widow, who hasn’t seen him in over 6 years, is collecting upwards of $20 million in donations. Various GoFundMe donation charities were spring up, some collecting as much as $14.5 million. Collectively, the haul for donations will be over the $20 million mark.

According to donation acceptance pages the donations are supposed to go to the children of George Floyd. Due to their age the funds will be handled by the estate. This huge trove of money is going to be at the disposal of his estranged widow who hadn’t seen him in over six years.

Monopolizing on the generosity of good people is a tragic ending to the story. Efforts to solve problems, unite the community, and help low-income workers are dashed when collection schemes go awry. It’s likely the funding from these donations will never be followed up on.
