In Maricopa County, Arizona the Democratic party’s Phoenix headquarters was attacked with a fire bomb. The building was severely damaged after the bomb was thrown onto the building on the night of July 24th. Today, local police announce they have arrested a former volunteer for the party and charged him with arson. The man’s name is Matthew Egler, age 29.
Video shows Egler parking near the county’s side of the building and exiting his vehicle. He tosses the fire bomb onto the structure and leaves the scene. Video evidence was combined with social media posts to confirm Egler was likely the culprit. Egler had been banned from volunteering at the location.
Fire crews responded to calls of smoke and fire around 1AM. There were no injuries reported at the scene. Former Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg tweeted saying the attack was right near where his desk had been in the building. The ATF collected evidence and was quickly able to identify the suspect as one of the party’s own volunteers.
