Late in the news day on Friday, California’s Governor signed the papers to commute 21 sentences and pardon 13 felons. Several of those benefiting were serving long sentences for crimes including murder. Citizens are left asking questions.
Nearly all of the cases were international. Some were already outside of the USA fighting to return, others were in the US prison system awaiting deportation.
Governor Gavin Newsom has made few comments on the subject. The Newsom office called the deportations “an unjust collateral consequence that would harm their families and communities”
