Today the Detroit Police made three arrests after protesters block a bus garage. The protesters were preventing the buses from leaving to start their routes to pick up children. They say that schools should not be open and have taken matters into their own hands by picketing and blocking the bus garage.
The actions started last week when Detroit summer school started. Summer school is elective for students and teachers. The protesters have been early in the morning and blocking the gate at 12680 Westwood.
After hours of protesting and receiving warnings, the police made three arrests. Detroit Police Captain Dan Donakowski says there were about 25 people at the protest. Last week there were 11 arrests made over 3 days of protesting.
